Great analysis on the team. I’m interested in how the SEAGER metric compares with other playoff contending teams? As much as the big 6 hitters performed on metric last year, the offense was (or felt) pretty bad last year. I don’t think a change of approach is necessarily bad if the Braves were such a predictable team to pitch against after 2023?

Your current top 5 in SEAGER: Yankees, Cubs, Rays, Tigers, Red Sox. Dodgers are 9th, Mets 13th, Phillies 15th. Bottom 5 are the Rockies, Jays, Rangers, Marlins, and Angels.

There are definitely multiple ways to get things done (the Mariners have been extremely successful this year and rank lower than the Braves in SEAGER) but I think SEAGER is a pretty good heuristic for good swing decisions.

As for the 2024 offense, the vibes were certainly bad. But a lot of that was atrocious batted ball luck (their luck is roughly average this year) and the majority of the starting lineup having multi-month IL stints. When so many plate appearances go to Whit Merrifield, Gio Urshela, Chadwick Tromp, etc., the offense will look ugly pretty often.
